1 Lb of Ground Beef in a Sitting
We're living in the UK for the next couple of months for our world travels. That means one thing: I can eat a frugal carnivore diet!
I wrote a book on why I like eating a carnivore diet and how to get started doing it. It's called The Carnivore Diet Handbook.
Today, I'm sharing how I've been eating every day for the past weeks on a carnivore diet.
You see, I've gone on-and-off the carnivore diet a couple of times since January, when I started this seemingly weird diet. Travel and meat costs in other countries determines it. But, when I can, I opt for carnivore.
I plan on eating this way going forward, until we're back in France housesitting (this means we're traveling the world without paying for accommodations! – I wrote a book about that, too! Check it out here!). We will be in France in September.
I won't eat as much meat in France, because it's not frugal – dammit. But, I have some new things planned to help me eat more carnivore-ish while there. Stay tuned to see if my experiments work.
One of my favorite parts of the carnivore diet continues to be is how fucking EASY it is.
I save so much time with this simple way of eating. I have more energy. I'm not constantly planning what to eat or looking at recipes on Pinterest at night when I should be sleeping.
Here's my daily carnivore diet…
Lately, I eat beef, and I drink water and coffee. That's pretty much it most days. My norm is that I eat breakfast around 8:00am and eat dinner around 5/6:00pm. That's it.
Here's my daily diet, which might be strange, but I love it. I do not want anything else.
Yes, it seems weird to only want beef.
I don't want vegetables. I don't want carbs. I don't even want sourdough bread! I don't want chocolate. It's very strange to not crave sugar or carbohydrates.
I love these beef patties. It's the same routine, I don't have to think twice.
Beef is healing things I didn't know needed healing. I feel great eating this way.
My skin is even better than when I was eating a Bulletproof Diet or a "real food healthy" diet. That says something to me. It says a lot.
From my late-20s to late-30s, I ate a vegan diet. Sadly, my family's health went to shit eventually. Whoops, did that one too long. Then I ate primal/paleo and things definitely improved! Almost overnight. Next, I dabbled in Bulletproof Diet eating and later added things like whole-fat dairy, sourdough bread. All of those diets were better for our health than eating vegan. But, geez, what the hell is going on that I can feel even better eating only animal foods?
I eat 2 pounds of 80/20 ground beef a day.
I eat one pound for breakfast and one pound for dinner.
I take one pound in the morning and I divide it into two 1/2-pound patties. (I do the same in the evening.) Add plenty of sea salt. Sometimes, I like a peppery burger and add black pepper. (Water and coffee are my beverages.)
I get a skillet hot(!) with no added fat, because it's not needed.
Add the patty.
I get a nice sear on it after a minute or two. Then, I flip it and get a sear on the other side. I then cook to temperature, flipping on occasion.
Since it's a fatty ground beef, every minute or two I drain some fat off to my plate where I'll eat it with the patty. Licking that damn plate clean! Fat and all.
I put the first cooked patty on the plate and repeat the steps for the second one.
Then, I eat them and love life and feel great. No bloat eating this way. Just strong.
If you're curious, you can try the carnivore diet, too.
For some, it's an effective elimination diet. You get a hold of food allergies from plants that you never knew you had.
Or, some people felt OK and decent, and then they tried the carnivore diet out of curiosity. Maybe to lose a few pounds. They had no idea how much better they could feel. It shocked them.
I still find it fascinating that many people on a keto diet try carnivore, and feel even better. They lose even more unwanted weight.
